Shaikhontohur District Municipality

Shaykhontohur district is an administrative-territorial unit of Tashkent. It was formed on November 29, 1929 as the Oktyabr district. It was changed to Shaikhontohur (Shaikh Khovandi Tohur) district in 1992. From 1978 - present-it borders Zangiota district to the northwest, Almazar district to the North, Yunusabad to the Northeast and East, Chilonzor and Yakkasaroy to the south, Uchtepa districts to the west.

Main highways: Abdulla Qadiriy, Navoi, Uzbekistan, Beruniy Shah streets, Furqat, Uyghur, Samarkand gate streets.

In shaykhontohur district there is a museum of Literature named after Navoi of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Seismology, chemistry and physics of polymers, Institutes of Microbiology, architecture and construction, chemotechnological institutes, 8 secondary special educational institutions, 35 schools of general education and other institutions, organizations. 1 family and dental hospital, 10 family polyclinics and outpatient clinics,6 hospitals provide services. During the years of independence, the academic Lyceum under the Uzbek State Conservatory, the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, the University of world economy and diplomacy was built on the territory of the district, the buildings of the Uzbek national Academic drama Theater, the shopping center "Chorsu" and the old juva market were renovated again. The Uzbek national Academic drama Theater, The Uzbek State drama Theater named after Abror Hidoyatov, the satire theater, the Russian theater of young spectators, The Circus, the "palace of Arts", the "Uzbekgurgazmasavdo" Palace, 6 houses and institutions of Culture, a cinema house, 1 Public Library, 1 cinema and other, the "Pakhtakor" Stadium, the Sports Complex "JAR" are in production.
